Peterhead Half Marathon
Date: Sunday 12th September 2010
Venue: PeterheadThe Peterhead Half Marathon was officially launched on Friday 4th June, to take place on Sunday September 12 2010 in the seaside town. The Half Marathon will be a central part of 'Buchan's Larder', a week long festival celebrating the food and produce of the area.
The Peterhead Half Marathon route will start in the town, taking runners up the Buchan and Formartine Line, through Inverugie and on to the village of St Fergus. The course will return to the running track in Peterhead, using the new Maggie Black Trail to reach the finish line, where organisers hope to have entertainment and a barbecue.
The 'Buchan's Larder' food festival will run for 6 days after the Half Marathon and the Peterhead and Buchan Tourism Initiative are hoping the race will attract people to the area for longer than just the day of the race. The festival will include a dinner with special guests 'The Hairy Bikers', Simon King and Dave Myers on Friday September 17.
All proceeds from the Half Marathon will go to the Scottish Spina Bifida Association and costs just £14 for unattached runners.
