Edinburgh Marathon

Edinburgh marathonIdeal for the first time marathon runners or an ideal course for a Personal Best. One of the fastest marathon courses in the UK the Edinburgh Marathon is going into its 10th year and again the organisers expect a record number of entrants along with record finishing times.

Sunday 26th May 2013

The Edinburgh Marathon offers runners the ultimate personal challenge with a spectacularly scenic route, taking runners past many of Edinburgh's famous landmarks and tourist attractions. It is more than just a race - it is a festival of fun with on-route entertainment and finish-line celebrations.

The race day will also reflect great human spirit thanks to the thousands of runners raising much needed funds for charitable causes.

The Scottish Spina Bifida Association have a number of guaranteed places for the Edinburgh Marathon 2012. To enter on behalf of the Association please contact Fundraising on 01236 794508 or email Fundraising.

Cost: For an assured SSBA charity place in the 2013 Edinburgh Marathon you must pledge to raise the minimum sponsorship of £300.

Deposit: £50 of the minimum pledge must be sent with entry form to secure your place. (This will be counted as part of your sponsorship total)

Background information on the Edinburgh Marathon.

On the 15th of June 2003 Scotland's capital hosted its first city marathon in 17 years. 3000 runners took to the streets of Edinburgh out of which over 1/3 were raising funds for charity. Edinburgh Marathon 2004 built on this achievement on 13th June with over 5000 people taking part. By 2005 the Edinburgh Marathon was firmly established as one of Scotland's premier sporting and fundraising events.
